Belly Dance Basics with Bethiah
Single Class/ Drop-in: $15
5 Classes: $65
In this class we will cover the basics of belly dance: upper body movement, hipwork, arm and foot patterns. Drills will strengthen our muscle memory and give way to natural, fluid movement. We will combine movements into fusion-style choreographies to encourage a connection with the flow of belly dance.
As we dance, a new sense of body awareness as well as a more grounded feeling within our dance and ourselves will evolve.
About Bethiah
After experimenting with modern, tango, and hoop dance, Bethiah began dancing with Navah, a belly dance troupe based in Seoul, South Korea led by her teacher Eshe in June of 2010. She has performed professionally with Navah at various events, festivals and showcases such as the Korea Experimental Art Festival and Bozenka's World Showcase.
Bethiah's foundation is in Oriental and American Tribal Style belly dance. She is most drawn to the Tribal Fusion style of belly dance; mesmerized by the tribal aesthetic and drawn to the freedom to incorporate aspects of other dance forms. Now home from South Korea, she is excited to share with you the creativity and joy that belly dance brings.
No previous dance experience is required. Wear comfortable clothing as you might to a yoga class*. Please bring water and a small towel.
*Please refrain from wearing jewelry or coin belts during class as broken pieces may injure other barefoot dancers.
